New Southern Athletic Conference (SAC)
This school year starts the new alignment from the NCHSAA and will last for 4 years. Our new SAC conference teams are:
Jack Britt
Seventy-First
Hoke County
Lumberton
Purnell Swett
Scotland
Pinecrest and
Richmond
The unique thing about our conference this year is that we all will not be participating in the same regional for the first time. Scotland, Richmond, and Pinecrest will be competing in the Midwest Regional and the rest of us will be competing in the Mideast Regional.

Our Conference schedule will be 4 schools at one location but running Tri's instead of Quads. Each school will host one home event. The first match of conference will be a dual match with our rivals. We will compete against Pinecrest.
Coach Brandon Locklear Promoted to Head Asst.
Coach Locklear has been promoted to the high school team's head assistant coach effective July 31, 2017. Coach Locklear has shown his dedication to the program since coming on as an assistant coach.

The wrestlers have bought into his coaching style and knowledge which helped to make the decision to promote from within instead of looking outside our team dynamics.

Coach Locklear was recruited to wrestle by current head coach, Vernon Walworth, during his 9th grade year. After convincing Locklear that he would enjoy it, Locklear tried it and soon fell in love with it. Evey year Coach Locklear improved, gaining much knowledge and more importantly, sought out more knowledge of our sport.

Coach Locklear is the head coach of our club team, The Forge as well. His youthfulness bodes well with the ages on this club team. He is teaching the same techniques to the club as we are at the high school level.
